The importance of ICTs in the classroom

We live in a technological world, and obviously our students are part of it. Even if we do not integrate these skills in our lessons, they will have to face them sooner or later. The English classroom is a perfect space to start to train these skills, since most of the content that exists on the internet is related  to or written in English, and the Spanish educational law seems to agree with this idea. 

In this document, ICT skills are labelled as 'digital competence' and it must be taught through every subject and level of the secondary schools: from students of first grade to students aiming at enrolling the university. Particularily, in our subject we need to teach students not only to produce texts using different programs, but also to ensure that they select faithful information and use social media wisely.
